Spring weather fishin

 Gary and I headed out yesterday to go hit a lake that I have not fished for 6 or 7 years maybe longer.
Gary fishes it quite a bit, thru the year. It's a bait and take lake that sits up out of out of Tonasket at 3157 ft.   It holds some nice Bows and natural spawning Brook, so I'm told.
     We got up there just after 10am the water was cold (very cold) I didn't have my thermometer with me, The ice hasn't been off more that 10 days and it stays in the shadows by the surrounding hills. I would say it's about  23 ac. maybe a little more. Deep in by the launch area maybe to 25 ft.on the (west end) and on the far east side 4ft. to where the creek come in. Lots of stumps and debris.              We were the only ones there. By the time we were ready to get into the water the wind had picked up the clouds were coming in and it was getting darker.

     Some drawbacks, of not taking my own rig. or being more organized, I left rain gear, stomach pump, third or forth rod, or at least the other reels, warmer clothes.I found that I put on to much weight over the winter to properly fit onto a pair of older waders, so they were a bit tight, I had a  hooded sweat it helped.
     Once in the water all thoughts of the bad things went way as always. time to be catching fish, and we did, lots and lots of bows. i was rigged up at first with my intermittent line and soon put on a 10 sink tip to it, just to get down a little faster, (didn't have my # 4 sink line) My Punkin head leach was working well, until I hooked a stump. Gary was doing a little better with his black bunny leach so with the opportunity to change out I put on a Blk. mini leach tyed on a # 14 Allen jig hook with a slotted gold bead. this keeps the hook point up so less debris to snag up.      Anyway we caught lots of fish I think Gary did a bit better than I, He did keep a few for dinner, and there were nice.
    About 12:30 we received some snow and heaver winds, But it didn't last long, also Gary's neighbor Bill showed up (he's 92) the wet a line for awhile' and catch some dinner.

                    So all in all had a great time with some good folks ripped some lips!!!                              
                                 
      I have been getting alot of flack from some of the locals and readers not to publish the names of the lakes, or places by name. So in the future unless they are already well known places I will show a picture of the surroundings but not give a name.

Searching for trout

                    3/31/15 State Creel Report to Ryan The Green Lakes

I went on a little search trip for our fish Biologist Ryan Fortier. He asked me to go hit up The Green Lakes with a few of the fellows from the MVFF. to get a creel report of the fish he put in Oct. 14.

      Big Green                   We did not catch any of the clip fish, and on this trip I myself only hooked 2 Bluegill. and much smaller trout. I fished from 10:30 to 12:30 with the wind blowing steady from the north at 6-7 mph with gust to 15. pretty hard to get around.
In my two hours I hooked 15 Bows smallest being 7.25in. largest 13. and 2 small maybe 3" Bluegill.
     I do know that there are some larger trout and more Gilly. Just today was not my day for them. The fella's from the MVFF caught a few larger Bows over 16.  Saw a couple lost just at the net about the same size.

     Lil Green   1:15-2:45 I was able to work my way around the lake twice with the wind and found a couple of places that were very productive.  Had a blast here on the lake using a 3 weight with 4 weight line and a 10 ft sink tip Punkin Head Leach. 11 bows ranging in size from 12" to 14.75.
The catch rate as you can see is much better and the size too. I did see some Bluegill but didn't catch any.
