RF Creek

Yesterday Rich Brown and I headed down to Rocky Ford to get away from the frozen Okanogan Valley and the socked in fog.
Down at the Creek we found not more then a couple of other rigs when we arrived the sky was bright clear and blue. We parked on the south end and crossed the closed bridge to fish with the sun at our backs. By noon I had to remove my jacket and I had hooked 5 nice fish and landed three almost landed the other two, could of, should of if only I didn't leave the net at the truck.
After I landed the last fish I worked my way back down to see how RB was doing he had a couple of hook ups but nothing landed.

While talking with him and showing what flies that were working for me I happen to notice right next to a point a huge fish was slurping something off the surface from time to time.
I hurried and tied on a size 20 Griffin Gant and pitched it out onto the current so that it would swing to where it was. Just about a foot before it reached the point the swirl the take and the snap off. it did this two more time and I was getting so I didn't have but one more Gant, I tried a different approach and went down stream to try to get a different angle at him only to fling the last fly into weeds just over it's head. Lost I tied on a #18 gave it that perfect cast he came up twice and refused at that point I had to walk away the wind had pick up.I worked my way back across the creek and tried for a few more cast across creek but with the wind and the current just couldn't get the same slow speed.

I'll be going back again soooooooooon !!!!!!!!!!!!
