Gary and Scott met me at LB Blue Lake today at 10am. The road into blue is pretty messy with a lot of water over the road a couple of big puddles one was deep enough to come up over the running boards of my Chevy truck, diffidently want 4 wheel drive, also I should mention there is some logging going on to clean up some of the burnt trees. Quit a few trees burned around the lake. It's still one of the most beautiful lake around.
To day the wind was blowin out of the north maybe 15-16 miles some white caps and it lasted up until we were getting ready to leave. water temp. was warmer than I expected at 56.
The fishing was great with 1 Cuttbow, 1 Rainbow (long and thin), and way to many Brookies to count my biggest was maybe 15 but with my 4w it was fun. I caught almost everything on a Punkinhead on a type 4 sink line and most were in 12-15 feet of water, Gary and I only fished the the north of the lake and towards the end the NE shore line heading back to our trucks.
Scott ventured down to the south end getting used to his new pontoon boat, he said he did great down there and their is no reason not to believe him. So all in all the three of us had the windy lake all to ourselfs and had a great time.
I'll be heading back there soon.
It was a pleasant surprise to see that Blue Lake in the Limebelt was damaged but not destroyed by last summers fires.
ReplyDeleteFishing is good and the size of the fish will improve as the season goes on. Great time with good friends and lots of fish released.
