That crazy wacko Boobie Fly Disco Dolly Parton

I invited and met up with my good buddy and faithful fishin partner Gary. Today and we hit one of my early season and very private lakes. 10 o'clock sharp we met at the gate, After getting the pons ready I ask Gary to try out this weird and wacky fly that I tye, I call it the Disco Dolly Parton.
He looked at it with surprized  eyes and gave me this  R U KIDDING ME look." No just tye it on your sink line and let out about 45-60 ft of line let it sink deep and mix up the strip as you retrieve."
I was in the water first and before I got out maybe 45 ft from the launch I had srtip out maybe 30 ft. of line and let the line sail after a 20 count I started with a couple of slow strips while moving the rod from side to side. Then quicker strips then slow again. By thetime I had striped in 10-12 feet I got this jerk that almost pulled the rod out of my hand.
Gary saw what was going on, I think he was convinced that it just might work. Then I hooked another and another. By the time I made it to what we call the Bay I had hooked and landed a good days fishing for most people.

When I fish my type 4, 5 or 6 sink lines I only use no more than 4 or 5 foot of leader all fluorocarbon in either 6 or 8 pound test. I buy a spool of 120 yards about every 2-3 years and just keep it in one of my saddle bags. and I'll use it for just about everything that I fish below the surface.

Look close at this Tiger Trout at the corner of his mouth you can see the fly.
#6 2x long shank hook
Foam Caulking backer for barbell eyes.
Marabou tail black & hot pink
New age chenille (almost any brite color)this happens to be blue.
Dyed Polar Chenille wrapped together.
I have tyed this fly in many colors and the weirder the better.
Believe it or not I've even hooked a Steelie on one once.
Gary findley hooked up a few on the DDB he seamed  to be having leader problems  and losing flies. But that OK I can alway tye more. When the wind came up and we were tired of kicking in the 41 degree water. It was time to anchor up pull the numb feet out of the water and do some Chromide fishin.
You can't ask for better fishin weather for this time of year.Early March 56 degrees, sunny fluffy white hi clouds. and the wind really wasn't that bad.

I put to net my fair share of fish in the net along with Gray when we got out about 3 with numb feet that were hard to walk on smiles on our faces and stories to tell. Yes My friend we had a great day and thank you See you Tuesday as we head back to Rocky Ford Creek and then just hopefully back on the rivers for some late season Steelheading For some summer time BBQing.
