This was the first time that I had ever been up there on a weekend. went we arrived at 9:30 and got the boat into the water there were two other boats out. and by the time we were in the water another guy was pulling in to unload his boat. By noon there were at least 6 and more were coming.
The pair of loons sang to us all day what a great sound it was. Gary tied on this strange deer-hair fly on his deep 6 line and within minutes he had his first fish solid fat Brook. It was a while for me to get hooked up too a fish that I brought to the net while Gary was at 4 maybe number 5 fish and he had one on the stringer for dinner. He may have caught more at the beginning but my one fish was bigger and I put that one on the stringer. By the end of the day Gary had caught more fish then I, I admit but it wasn't that many. we both threw back a lot more then we're taking home.
We both caught some big fish and lots of smaller one in the 10 to 14 inch range it was 3:30 when we headed in with a full limit for both of us. I don't keep many fish for me to eat but the two that I had tonite sure tasted good rolled in corn meal. But one of the damnest things of the day was when we got back to the launch a Garder Snake of maybe the diameter of my thumb and a little over 2 ft. long was in the water doing his best to pull one of the fish on the stringer closer to shore I was able to go get my phone and video it so that I could show my wife. I just tried to download from my phone but I guess it's to big to send.
The water temp is already up for this highlands lake at 61 degrees the sun was warm the sky clear and blue and very little wind today Gary and I had another good time on the water laughing at each other, swapping stories and sitting in the same boat and you know after all day in such a small space together we are still friends. Thanks Buddy for a fun day but next time I'm bringing my pontoon so I don't have to wait for you to mess with you line around you shoe laces.
Also Scott showed up giving that new Buck's Bag South Fork a work out and tune up. Way to go Scott get use to it before we get to BC next month.
Great Blog, great fish, great time at Lost Lake. Thanks Buddy
ReplyDeleteThat snake was impressive. He did not let his size get in the way of his ambition.
